As I was training it had never occurred to me that I could be more than what I had always been or what I was training to be, at least not without abandoning my aspirations or retiring from performing.
I had/have so many aspirations that I wanted to achieve and attaining them all seemed like an impossibility, until I began writing “The Awesome Agony of Awareness” in the summer of 2021. I had always envisioned particular pieces of poetry within the book as existing in a movement sense and after writing the show, I was thrilled to welcome Amaris Gillies onboard as a choreographer. I felt that her beautiful movement embodied the vision I had harmoniously. Then two became three, with the addition of the incredible Corinne Swallow, who took my writing to levels I never imagined before. I’m not sure that without Corinne, Amaris and I would ever come back to reality! I’m so excited for where this show may go and what it could be in time.
